On Sat 23rd November we will be having our first fun competition!
In a user friendly version of the Jerk/Long Cycle relay we will have a 4 min, multi switch, one arm long cycle relay. This will be strictly for FUN and so we encourage all to participate! Teams of 3 will compete, consecutively performing their 4 min sets. We will use the Pentathlon scoring system of 1 point per rep, per 8kg lifted. So 20 reps with 8kg = 20 points. 20 reps with 16kg = 40 points. The team with the most points wins!
One Arm Long Cycle is a two part exercise. First, you must Clean the kettlebell to your shoulder. Second you must Jerk the kettlebell overhead. From the overhead fixation the kettlebell is then returned to the shoulder and swung again between the legs and re-cleaned for the next rep.
Since we are aiming for a user friendly beginners competition we will use the multi switch format. This means that instead of the traditional single hand switch, we will allow multiple hand switches during your set. You can switch every minute, every 10 reps, every 5 reps, whichever you choose. But you may not put the kettlebell down until your 4 mins is complete.
For those in the Kettlebell Sport Competition Training Group you will be team captains. You must select two other lifters to compete with you for this relay. If you are not in this training group, perhaps train at another gym and want to give it a go, you are encouraged to get a team together and come and compete. This friendly competition is open to all so don’t forget to encourage all your work mates, gym buddies etc to come and give it a go!
